Lightning Down

This is our new Book of the Month.  Running until July 1st.  I have read the first 7 chapters, up to Act 2.  I think that we tend to forget how old, or should I say young, these soldiers are that enter into any way really.  How excited, scared, anxious, and a lot of other emotions that go through them during war.  These first few chapters really give you a perspective on how they felt about the war.  I am excited to read the next 7 chapters next week.

I finished this book last night. After reading the struggles that he and many other POW went through in Germany, taken to a concentration camp instead of a POW camp and the things that they had to do to survive, is amazing testament of will and strength and his faith in God. It also reminds us why we STAND for our flag and national anthem. What all of our military veterans had to go through so that we can stand for that beautiful flag.

I am now at Act IV. He has still not been liberated from the concentration camp yet. The details in Act III about the concentration camp and the things that were done, not only to him, but also everyone else, especially the kids, was a really hard read for me. I will finish up the book this coming week. Join me in reading Lightning Down and let me know what you think as well.

I have just started Act 3. He is now taken to the concentration camp, instead of a POW camp, which is where he thought they would be taking him. This chapter describes the concentration camp that he has arrived at, and it is very graphic. It is hard to keep reading the horrendous things that were done to people in that camp and others like it. I will update next week, at Act 4.
