A Mother's Love - Yan Ling Ling
A Mother's Love - Yan Ling Ling
Using historical records as the foundation, the author beautifully narrates the autobiographical story of the Yan family of the Bai people group and their struggles during the Cultural Revolution in China. The Yan family had one of the most successful business companies in the province of Yunnan, but as the power of the state rose up, the large and prosperous Yan family was forced to near extinction. The whole business operation was taken over, and the author's father was made to work in the boiler room of a factory he once owned. He could not withstand such humiliation and dies as a young man, leaving his wife, Su Ruo Bi behind with seven children.
Written by one of her daughters who is described as "the child who grew up in mama's tears," this book describes the lives and experiences of the last four generations of this large and well-known family. She painfully tells the gripping life story of her extraordinary mother, a 38-year-old widow, and her seven children.
Although Su Ruo Bi was forced to live in poverty and disgrace until she died, she gifted her children with the most precious of values "Many waters cannot quench love!"
